Local Mom attacked by Virginia Beach School Administrators at IEP meeting on Thursday. Allison Jordan, Special Ed Coordinator for the public school system, and Kimberly Dailey, 7th grade Principal at Larkspur Middle School, both physically attacked a Mom in an attempt to take an audio tape from her. The tape, which contained evidence of highly questionable tactics used by the administrators to squash LRE recommendations from the child's Psychologist, is so incriminating that the administrators were willing to use brute force to try to keep it from being released. Mom yelled for help, but the school police liaison took the tape away from her and then arrested her for disorderly conduct even though she reported the assault and requested that the police be called. more information coming in a press release from the Mom's Education Advocate, Michael Robinson, from Getafape.org, who was listening to the scuffle from the speaker phone. Mr. Robinson, who attended the IEP meeting as a representative of the parents, stated, "They were refusing to listen to an expert who is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist AND Licensed School Psychologist WITH a Ph.D. in Education AND Psychology. The expert gave advice on where the best school was for the child and Ms. Jordan insisted that her own expert opinion was more credible. She claimed that she is a doctoral candidate and that her experience as a licensed classroom teacher qualifies her to deny the expert recommendations from a Ph.D., who has treated the child for several months."
Before the meeting started mother asked that the meeting be taped and stated she did not have a tape recorder available. Sped. Ed. Director Ms. Jordan attempted to intimidate parent by indicating, they could not tape unless the parent provided a tape recorder as well. Mother insisted the school could use their tape recorder, and she would accept a copy of the tape after the meeting. Sped. Ed. Director Agreed.
The following sequence of aggressive events on the part of the special ed. director Ms. Jordan and her staff ensued, with the school going as far as to having the mother arrested after themselves assaulting her with no violence on the part of the parent:
Ms. Jordan spec. ed. director abruptly ended the meeting when she did not like what the Advocate, Mr. Robinson, had to say.
"Miss Jordan said the meeting was over and told Miss Dailey to hang up the speaker phone on Mr. Robinson, the mother's Advocate. He was still talking when Miss Dailey hung up the phone. I asked Allie Jordan how she could just determine on her own that the meeting was over when no conclusions or decisions had been made. I was not physically upset. I did not raise my voice. I did not move from my chair. Miss Jordan said, "I'm sorry but this meeting is over. We will send you a Meeting Notice to re-schedule. We were not getting anything accomplished. " I said, "Mr. Robinson was trying to get you to acknowledge the recommendations made by Dr. Huff. You are refusing to acknowledge anything." Everyone else was up getting ready to leave the room. Miss Jordan stood up. Miss Dailey was next to the phone, because she was the one who actually hung it up. The tape recorder was sitting right next to to the mother who turned in her chair and pushed the Stop button. She stood up and then hit the Eject button. Mother proceeded to retrieve the tape, upon which Miss Dailey jumped towards her and tried to grab it from her hand. . Ms. Allie Jordan came from behind the mother and grabbed her left arm forcefully and said, "That tape is property of the School Board." upon which mother politely replied, "I will be happy to send you a copy of it, or you can make me a copy now. But you need to remove your hands from me." Then Miss Dailey made her way around the table and grabbed both of the mother's arms from the front. Even though she was hurting me, I purposefully did not raise either of my hands in a defensive way. Both school personnel kept increasing pressure on the mother's arms, causing her arms to start numbing. Mother asked for them to: "Get your hands off of me!" upon which Ms. Jordan the special ed director let go, but Ms. Dailey did not and started shoving mother against the door to trap her. Fearing for her safety mother was able to open the door about 8 inches wide and yell for "HELP!" At the same time Ms. Dailey was also on a walkie talkie calling security and accusing the mother of robbery of school property When mother was able to get into the hallway and started walking towards the exit, school security guard came down the hall accompanied by another school staff who indicated: That's her. School security guard physically restrained mother with excess force utilizing both of his hands against a woman who was three times smaller than him. Mother asked for the police to be called. Security indicated he was the police. Mother stated she had just been assaulted. She never raised her voice or her hands and spoke in a non-confrontational voice. Security guard indicated he was the police as his shirt sleeve indicated he was Virginia Beach City Police. The officer continued to restrain mother shoved against the wall with his full body weight and removed one arm in an attempt to remove tape from the mother. Mother indicated "If you are committing to this, you'll need to take me all the way to the jail cell." He said, "Mrs. Snyder. You can't leave with that tape. The officer started hyperventilating as the mother spoke, increasing his force upon the mother and trying to remove the tape from her hand . She held on tight to the tape, and indicated to the officer: "I have not lifted a finger to be aggressive in any way. Your staff was hurting me. I am the one who called out for help." Meanwhile he was jerking her other arm behind her back and placing handcuffs on her. HE NEVER ASKEDHER TO PUT HER HANDS BEHIND HER BACK. He did not say she was under arrest. He did not read her her rights. While walking mother towards the door, mother indicated "I need my documents that fell on the ground. They are mine." To which the officer replied, "You gave up that right already." He was walking me out the door.
On the way to the jail, mother asked the officer if there were security cameras in the hallway of the school. To which he replied "Yes" and mother responded: "Good. Because you know when they get reviewed it will show clearly that I was never aggressive or lifted a finger toward another human being." After the mother was forcefully held against her will, handcuffed and placed in the patrol car the officer indicated: " I am going to read you your rights. To which mother replied: " OK". He read them and asked the mother if she understood them to which she replied: "Yes". There was no more discussion.
When the officer told the magistrate his version of what happened, he said that Miss Dailey had the tape in the classroom and that the mother had grabbed it from her. This is absolutely not true. Plus, he was not there so it was hearsay. Mother kept quiet. They were trying to justify arresting her, but they can't. The officer also lied and said that there were students in the hall when he confronted the mother which is an outright lie. There were never any students in the hall during the entire confrontation. The video will show that she was telling the truth.. When the officer finished his version of false testimony the magistrate charged the mother with Disorderly Conduct based on the officer's false testimony and not even reviewing the security tape.. Mother asked the magistrate if she could ask the officer one question. To which the magistrate responsded :"Yes", but he doesn't have to answer it." The mother asked the officer:, ":At what point in your story was it where I became disorderly?" The officer chose not to answer the question but, instead replied, "You can't leave with school property." The magistrate asked then proceeded to ask the officer directly if he wanted to file theft charges to which the officer responded: "No, we have the tape back"
Mother was placed in a cell at approximately 4 p.m. all bruised and battered, and bailed out by in laws five hours later.
Mom is filing formal charges against the administrators for assault and battery.
